Try this for your Sunday morning breakfast enjoyment:

BAKED FRENCH TOAST  (Yep, baked)

3 large eggs, beaten 8 (1" thick) slices of homemade or French bread

2/3 cup milk

1/2 stick butter (do not substitute)

3 tablespoons sugar

1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon vanilla

In a square, flat dish, beat the eggs, milk, sugar, cinnamon and vanilla together.

Soak the bread in a single layer for 2 minutes, then turn it over and soak other side until all the custard is absorbed.

In a flat baking dish, melt the butter in a 300 deg. oven.  Remove from oven and increase heat to 400 deg.

Add soaked bread to buttered pan in one layer and bake it for 15 minutes. Turn it over and bake 10 minutes more.

Serve with powdered sugar, ground cinnamon or various syrups. Makes 4 to 8 servings.

While that stuff is baking, you can fry some sliced ham, bacon or saute some pork medallions sliced from the tenderloin and coated with buttered bread crumbs.
